 1- Cultivation theory links with negatives media effects as it desensitises people which makes them less empathetic.

2- Desensitisations is when people become less empathetic as they see negative things in the media.

3- Moral panic is the panic caused by respond to a recent media product that is thought to be threatening.

4- People use media for their own purposes they are able to recognise the differences between fantasy and escapism.

The 'uses and gratification' theory is where people search for a specific thing on social media. 

personal relationships- Snapchat is used for personal use eg sending messages 

personal identity- Instagram which helps you build your personal identity via posting pictures of your self. 

surveillance- BBC news gives you news locally and worldwide

escapism- video games for example God of War
