- The term ABC1 tells us what social grade a person is in which lets us know how much their annual earning is ABC1 is the higher end social grade and this is usually filled with people who make over 50k a year. ABC1 is also the most desirable of the social grades as they make the most Money

One product that would be good to advertise would be jewellery or antiquity as most of the people who read the daily mail as most of the readership of the Daily Mail are in the ABC1 social grade and are also over the age of 44 this is because people in this social grade can afford these items and also things like jewellery and people over age 44 they will more likely enjoy antiquities.


One product that would be good to advertise on the Sun is technology as most of the readership is between 15 and 44 and most of the people in the sun are young and most likely are interested in tech and this justifies advertising on the sun 

2a State what the acronym BARB’ stands for.

Mainly older women are watching BBC1 as most of the shows are soaps such as Eastenders whereas most of the people who watch channel 4 are younger men we can gather that as most of the shows watched are action and they watching stuff about cars and also watch Marvels agents of shield.

Public service ownership relates to broadcasting meaning that public server broadcasting is aimed to be for public benefit and not for commercial benefit as such the BBC being a public service and not a commercial service

(b)  Explain how a conglomerate company operates differently to an independent company.

Use examples to support your answer.

Conglomerate companies use subsidiary's they owns to further advertise product they have created whereas independent companies have to do joint ventures another way they operate differently is how they can distribute a product themselves whereas independent companies have to pay other companies to distribute a product.

An example of how Amazon use synergy is by using products they own to advertise other products an example of this is by using the amazon Alexa .

People usually watch X factor around 7pm which is when prime time tv is a thing. X factor is a prime time water cooler show and most people who watch it are 14-35 as it is entertaining. The mise en scene aspects are seen quite alot such as the bright atmosphere
